First, you may have thought “Not tonight dear, I have a headache…” is something among couples, but the head ache has a history in baseball that led to players never wanting to be “Wally Pipped”. You see, back in 1925, Wally was the starting first baseball for the New York Yankees, but was not doing so well. The story is that he was suffering from a headache before the game on June 2nd (having been beaned by a pitch a month earlier during batting practice). The Coach, Miller Huggins, decided to give a young kid, Lou Gehrig a chance. Well, Gehrig played every game thereafter for 14 consecutive years. So it is that you definitely want to avoid being Wally Pipped.
